SURREY, B. Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo Jersey .C. - The question was barely asked before Wally Buono was ready with the answer. After losing three times to the Calgary Stampeders during the regular season are the law of averages against the B.C. Lions being beaten again when the two team clash Saturday in the CFL West final? "I dont play the law of averages," Buono, the Lions coach and general manager, said Monday as he sat behind a table at the teams practice facility. "To me that is not a factor I take into account." The Lions used a smothering defence to defeat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 33-12 in last weeks West semifinal at Regina. Buono knows his defence will face another challenge this weekend at McMahon Stadium (TSN, 4:30 p.m. ET). "Were facing a different animal in the Calgary offence," said Buono, who has the Lions in the West final for the fifth consecutive season. "There is going to be a lot more pressure (on the defence), a lot more demands. "They are playing a very good team that is going to be very well coached and very well prepared. What happened last week is over with. Weve worked hard to get to this point." The Stampeders, who earned a bye into the final by finishing first in the West with a 13-5-0 record, defeated the Lions by a combined score of 105-77 during the season. In their last meeting Calgary whipped the Lions 41-30 at McMahon in the final game of the regular season, a loss which cost B.C. the chance for a home playoff game. "Theyve been a better team," Buono said in explaining Calgarys dominance. "They played better in the last three games we played them. They had more plays. "At the end of the day theyve probably been more physical than we have. You have to give them credit." To corral the Stampeders the Lions will have to control quarterback Henry Burris who threw for 5,094 yards, 39 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions this year to be the Wests nominee as the CFLs most valuable player. Burris is unlikely to throw three interceptions and fumble the ball away once like Saskatchewans Michael Bishop did last week. "Henry has been very efficient" said Buono. "He has done an excellent job of managing their games. "The playoffs are different. Its a new season. Your stats dont come with you, youre wins dont come with you. The only thing that comes with you is you have to play a big game." The Lions finished third in the West with a 11-7-0 record, meaning theyll need two win twice on the road to advance to the Nov. 23 Grey Cup in Montreal. During a 19-year career as a head coach in Calgary and B.C., Buono has an 8-7 record in West finals. He also is 3-0 coaching in the final on the road. The Lions were 5-4 in road games this season while the Stampeders were 7-2 at home. "The road doesnt bother me and I dont think it bothers our club," said Buono. "That is not something that is a negative for us. "You get to be on the road from Thursday to Saturday. You get two nights in a hotel where there is a little more tranquility, theres a little less distraction. You are around the guys you are going to play with. You are focusing on the things you have to do. There is a positive to that." Running back Stefan Logan gained a career-high 153 yards on 18 carries against Saskatchewan. After a slow start quarterback Buck Pierce settled down to complete 23 of 31 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. Bruising slotback Jason Clermont also returned from a knee injury to make four catches for 46 yards. As good as the Lions were last week, Buono is never sure how his team will play in the next game. "They are unpredictable to the point of being predictable," he said. "We have not made anything easy on ourselves all year." Buono spent 13 years as head coach in Calgary. He guided the Stampeders to first place in the West eight times but won just three Grey Cups. This will be Buonos first time back in Calgary to coach against his old team in a playoff game, something he dismissed as irrelevant. "Im just thankful we are going," he laughed. "Last week at this time we werent sure what was going to happen. "I got up this morning and thanked the good Lord we had another week and another game we can play." Replica Robert Meachem Jersey . Thomas Jones had 107 rushing yards and two scores on 20 attempts for the Jets (1-0), who gave Rex Ryan a victory in his head coaching debut. New York responded on the ensuing drive, as Jones burst through the right side on a 38-yard TD run. The score was set up on the previous play when Sanchez hit Keller for 40 yards into Texans territory. Houstons final possession of the contest fell into the hands of Jets cornerback Lito Sheppard with 7:20 left, and the Jets ran off the remainder of the clock aided by three first downs. "Its hard for me to pinpoint just one thing. I was most disappointed offensively, how we played," said Texans head coach Gary Kubiak. "The lack of offense gave us no chance."
